Hullavington (The British Tractor Challenge 2006 - a new record of 2141!)

Here is the first batch of Pulling photos from the British Tractor Challenge 2006 which were taken by Gabrielle Mann, who's husband Darren is co-owner of 'Major Aggro'.

Hopefully some more images will be posted in the near future... Watch this space!

Major AggroPhil 'Pikey' Parker Pulling with 'Major Aggro'. Phil and Darren 'Manny' Mann from Solihull in the West Midlands created this beast which has a straight-6 Ford Turbo diesel at the back and a normally aspirated V8 Perkins at the front.

It may look a bit odd, but it certainly goes well. 38" wheels and tyres are due for the next outing at Landford!

Dragon PowerDave Phillips from Newport in Gwent driving 'Dragon Power' (the Puller that eats Turbo's for a pastime). By the end of the week-end his newly fitted Garrett turbo was on its way out with a 'floppy' bearing. Dave had to do the actual Challenge with his 'old' KKK.

You'd never guess Dave was MD of Bassaleg Hire would you? Thanks to him the Tractor Pulling actually had a PA system for the event.

The GopherShaun 'Ginty' McGinn who lives near Stratford-upon-Avon (yes, yet another of the strong Midlands contingent). The Puller was bought as a part-finished project from Wales and Shaun has spent every spare moment over the winter and spring getting it ready.

The Puller is still as yet un-named, but I'm sure his Midlands friends will come up with something suitable(?).

Fippeny Fury'Stormin' Norman Young off on a run with 'Fippeny Fury'. Loads of smoke, loads of noise and loads of action!

Norman runs a Haulage business in Dorset (N.D. Young) who also specialise in Sand and Gravel. One of the original South Coast Pullers, he has been involved in the sport for more years than I care to mention. No Pulling event would be complete without young Norman.

Mad MasseySteve Knight driving the 'Mad Massey', another Midlands Puller. Steve is the mechanical genius (?) who keeps the Massey going at peak performance. The Puller is owned by Dave 'Gaffa' Spencer from Alcester near Stratford-upon-Avon and travels around with a retinue of supporters and Team members.

Lisa Spencer drove the 'Mad Massey' for the actual Challenge, although God only knows how she managed to get it to go so slowly!

StumpyRichard 'Stumpy' Williams actually captured on camera with his Nuffield Puller still running at the end of the week-end, and still no fluid leaks!

His Puller was running with (another) new engine which actually didn't leak or die a miserable death. As 'Stumpy' would say; 'Let her twist!'.

He tells me the Nuffield was busy on his farm the week before the Challenge. Probably the fastest haymaker in the county. The Puller in the background is Roger Kear.
